The target of contaminants checks division is to verify the conformity to food safety criteria.
The continuous evolution of food-processing, market globalization, the eventual environmental contaminations and possible fraudulent behaviours make it necessary to perform specific, accurate and fast checks in order to guarantee food safety.
Moreover Regulation CEE n. 466/2001 and subsequent developments introduced maximun residues levels for some heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury) and mycotoxins in order to protect public health considering the toxicity of these elements and substances.
Main analyses and services
The division activity develops on different kinds of tests most of them are under SINAL accreditation.
Analytical determination of plant protection residues on a huge number of matrices such as:
cereals and derivatives

Most of the molecules are determined with multiresidual techniques and the analytical screening is as much as possible targeted and representative for the product which is analyzed.
The continuous updating of analyses make it possible to offer a wide range of analytical determinations according to the more and more varied market requirements.

Analytical determination of azo dyes and other dyes
Azo dyes (Sudan I, II, III, IV, Para Red, Dimetil yellow, Sudan Orange G, Sudan Red 7B, Sudan Red B, Sudan Red G, Orange II) on flavours, sausages, condiments, foodstuffs, spices, seasoning agents; dyes such as Rhodamine B on spices, foodstuffs.
