REGULATION (EC) n. 856/2005 - 03/07/2006
COMMISSION REGULATION (EC) n. 856/2005 of 6 June 2005 amending Regulation (EC) No 466/2001 as regards Fusarium toxins: it applies from 1 July 2006.
COMMISSION REGULATION (EC) n. 856/2005of 6 June 2005 amends Regulation (EC) n. 466/2001 as regards Fusarium toxins and it applies from 1 July 2006 as regards the maximum levels for:
- deoxynivalenol (DON) on cereals (except for unprocessed maize and rice) and derivatives (except for rice products);
- zearalenone (ZEA) on cereals (except for unprocessed maize and rice) and derivatives (except for maize and rice derivatives).
This Regulation does not apply to products which were placed on the market before 1 July 2006 in conformity with the provisions applicable.
Given the low contamination levels of Fusarium toxins found in rice, no maximum levels are proposed for rice or rice products.
For maize, not all factors involved in the formation of Fusarium toxins, in particular zearalenone and fumonisins B1 and B2 are yet precisely known. Therefore, the relative maximum levels will be fixed in 2007 (July 2007 for ZEA and DON, October 2007 for fumonisins).
In the following tables are reported the maximum levels for DON and ZEA.
ANNEX: In Section 2 “Mycotoxins” of Annex I, the following point is added:
