Following the death of a number of dogs and cats in the

, the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) highlighted the presence of melamine in pet food and its ingredients such as wheat gluten, rice protein concentrate and corn gluten.
Referring to the topic above specified, Eurofins, which Chemical Control is part of, has reacted rapidly to its customers requests to analyse for melamine in a variety of products. The method applied is the method recommended by FDA, derivatisation followed by GC-MS. The analysis is performed by Eurofins | W.E.J. in Hamburg.
